TRB & NOLA History:
In the fall of 2005, The Rock Boat was set to make its first New Orleans departure. However, just a few weeks before we were set to leave, Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city. All Carnival ships in the port were donated to FEMA workers as housing while they helped with the rescue effort, and of course, The Rock Boat V was cancelled.
Next year, The Rock Boat is finally making its way back to the great city of New Orleans, and we invite you to be a part of a service project. Though it has been 6 years since the hurricane, there are still hundreds of families living in FEMA trailers and more who need help rebuilding their own homes. We know The Rock Boat family is one of the most caring groups of people anywhere with a wide variety of skills and talents, and when we band together there are no limits to what we can accomplish.
The day before we set sail, Sixthman is teaming up with The St. Bernard Project and bringing 100 volunteers to help with 4 projects in St. Bernard and New Orleans Parishes, some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.
